To start make sure you've connected things correctly to your computer for the iConnectiity interface to be able to see this information and form a proper network connection.
This article will help in how connections can be made.
You can find the IP and set an IP for your iConnectivity interface in Auracle X's RTP/Network page.
There are 2 main type of IPs you will run into when talking about these things.
- Static IP - This means the IP always stays the same no matter how many times you remove it or connect it or which network you put it on, it will stay the same. Be careful that you don't set a static IP that is the same as another IP on your network. You can check your IPs on the network with arp -a terminal command. Check this article for more.
- Dynamic IP - This type of IP can change on every start and connection to a network and will move to not step on another IP. By default, iConnectivity interfaces use this type of IP.
As soon as you open this page you will notice a few options across the top.
- Set As Static - This option, if clicked, will enable the ability to edit and set a static IP in the following fields. If this is not selected you will use a dynamic IP and you will see all the IP settings to the right show greyed out.
- IP - By default this will be an IP starting with 169.254.X.X by you can change this. Commonly used starting IPs are 192.168.X.X, as you see with internet carriers and 10.0.X.X. Both will be acceptable for use. We recommend you have a list of the IPs in use before setting a static IP.
- Subnet - Most people using an unmanaged switch will leave this as the default 255.255.0.0 or 255.255.255.0
- Gateway - This is basically IP of the first connection in your network. Example: most home internet options will use 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 It's usually the number 1 at the end. It's the opening connection to the network. If you have a 10.0.x.x you will often use 10.0.0.1 as the gateway. When complete it will likely look like this
To set a Static IP
- Enable (blue) the box to the left of Set as Static
- Add your IP, SubNet and gateway based on the info above.
- Click Save button
You will get a message saying you need to disconnect and reconnect the ethernet cable to your interface. You can do this on the interface side or the computer/switch side. We recommend leaving the RTP page open in Auracle X while doing this. It will go back to the main, connected devices, screen and then the interface should show back up. Once it shows back up go to the Presets page and save.
Now you are setup.
