There are 2 main ways to connect from an iConnectivity interface to your computer
- USB DAW connection
- Network / RTP connection
When connecting with a USB DAW connection, A USB connection between iConnectivity interface a computer, you will see up to 16 MIDI ports, each containing it's own 16 channels of MIDI. These 16 ports are virtual/digital ports, which means they can all be named or routed in a way you would like. Each iConnectivity interface has a set of default names and routings for these 16 ports, but you can change them to the options that suit your setup best. Check out the Renaming and reroute videos at the bottom of this article.
When connecting with Network or RTP MIDI you will have a much large number of options to work from. Each iConnectivity interface has its own maximum numbers of RTP ports available over the ethernet cable connection. Your computer, however, will allow many more Network sessions to which you will be connecting the RTP ports to. These network sessions will show the naming to your softwares on your computer.
Each network session has a Local Name and a Bonjour Name. The Local Name is the name that will show in your software of choice. You will often see Network Session Name in your software.
These names have no real limits to how you can name them and how long they should be unlike the Bonjour Name which should be under 15 characters and start with a special character.
